Although some developers already found the hidden link to download beta1 release of NetBeans 6 (which I am obviously not going to provide :), this is not the official release yet. We appreciate the large amount of interest into our testing bits, but please wait for the official announcement, otherwise you may download a version which is not the final version of beta1 - the bits may be respun. Beta1 release is coming in few days!
I was wondering about that too.. the time line shown on http://wiki.netbeans.org/wiki/view/NB6Schedule
showed only sept 17th as the "official" release date. Developers are free to download the nightly bits tagged for beta release, but that cannot be the final beta1 bits out for use.

btw: nice new icons in update centers config in "beta1" ;)

I hope that the first beta has a lot of the bugs worked out for Java EE 5, specifically not recognizing EJBs and annotations correctly.

We can't help but be excited, each major milestone is like an early Christmas for us developers! :)
Can't wait to move from M10 to B1! NetBeans 6 is the bees knees!

oops - seems a link was added to one of the well meaning planetnetbeans blogs unwittingly/unknowingly

Those Beta concepts are mostly stupid imo.
Everyone knows that nightly builds after Nb 6 M10 have always been more usable (even stable) that M10 itself...
I would even recommend Nb 6.0 nightly builds over the already obsolete NetBeans 6.0 Beta 1 build, since important issues have been fixed post Beta 1:)
ps: which version of Windows XP or Ubuntu or Mac OS are you running? I don;t know/care, I am running the latest bits they give me...

I have seen on the page that the UML module is not available for the Mac Intel version. Do you have any informations about this? It was still available on the M10.

Well if it helps, the not-yet-beta1 crashes when I close Enterprise Projects. Maybe the official beta1 will have this fixed.

NB is the bees knees (and I always use the nightly's). But I _WISH_ that the official release could be ready for the start of the academic year. Each year we have to image 100's of PC's knowing that in a few weeks the spangly new version is coming out. We can't risk the betas. There must be 100's of University's like ours with the same problem. Students are stuck on old versions for a year; if only the release date was September!!

Thanks for the interesting feedback. I'll pass it to the team.

If you are a mobility developer, I will suggest you use M10 or wait beta2. There is bug will make you lost all the pre-action and post-action code.
See http://blogs.sun.com/wind/entry/wait_until_netbeans_6_0 for detail.
