NetBeans is becoming a great Scala IDE

Many thanks to Caoyuan for all his great work. His Scala plug-in is starting to look impressive. Caoyuan, I wonder if you have the lastest NetBeans t-shirt and NetBeans USB stick... if not send me an e-mail and I'll ship them to you :)

If you want to give the Scala plug-in a try follow the instructions from NetBeans wiki.

Hi Roumen,

I have a NetBeans t-shirt of two years ago, when I attended NetBeans Day in Seattle. Sure, I'd like to update to the new version.

I'll mail you my address.

Thanks.

The plugin does not work correctly in NetBeans 6.1: syntax highlighiting works, build works, run main project works, but run single file does not, and, unfortunately, code completion does not work.

The overall approach to the Scala configuration is also wrong: you need to configure SCALA_HOME variable - like most people I love software that forces me to set ANT_HOME, JAVA_HOME, *_HOME, etc. Optionally (or not, wiki docs is not clear about it) I can add Scala configuration to NetBeans configuration file.

Scala runtime is not bundled with the plugin, so you need to dowlnoad it separately, which is kind of inconvinient.

I hope these problems are going to be fixed, Ruby support seems to be a good example how to do things right. My dream is to have something that IntelliJ has done for JavaScript.
