NetBeans Podcast #19 - Interview with Bruno Souza

I have some VERY GOOD news for the NetBeans community. Sun has hired a new community manager to work with NetBeans community and help grow it and make it even more sucessful. I am very excited that the new community manager is a man I don't think I have to introduce - it is noone else than Bruno Souza. Bruno is the chairman of SOUJava which is the probably the largest Java User Group on Earth with more than 18.000 members. Bruno has been evangelizing Java since 1995 and he's the famous guy with a Brazilian flag you might have met at Java One. Bruno accepted earlier this month to join Sun as a community manager.

Bruno will in his new position mainly work with NetBeans community, he will also contribute to the OpenSolaris community. He will also keep working with Java User Groups and in his new position he will have more opportunities to travel and talk to JUG leaders (you can meet both Bruno and me at Javapolis).

I interviewed Bruno in the beginning of November, we had to wait with publishing the interview till he becomes an official Sun employee. The interview was done before the open source java announcement, so some things are different today (e.g. Duke is no longer closed source!).
