SFD @ JITM

My first session on behalf of Sun Microsystems @ JITM..
Speaking of the experiences, believe me it was really a hard time. When expectations are totally turned down, enthusiasm takes a huge downfall... But I am too stubborn to give up... I believe I can make it... Anyways this was how we had our SFD...
On sep 17th, 2008, we kickstarted the SFD session with an introduction to Software freedom day and Sun Microsystems. Around 40 students were present for the session. We had a talk on open source technologies and free softwares. Then I gave a talk on the contrast between Windows and Unix based operating systems. Then I gave an introduction on some the products of Sun like Open Solaris, Java, Netbeans & MySQL.
On Sep 19th,2008, We had a demonstration of the Open Sparc systems. Then we demonstrated the installation of Open Solaris. First we did it through the live cd and then on virtual box. At the end we had a " Speak Your Mind" session where I invited students to speak out their views on open source technologies.
Well to be honest to all my readers, this was not the way I had planned for SFD. I had huge plans in my mind but but... You never know... I hope situations take a turn around and I face some glimmer of enthusism and hope from the side of the students...
