Coyote Hills Regional Park On last Saturday Manuel, Phani, Chandan, KSN, Ken, Vinay (who came from India) and I get together for mountain biking in Coyote Hills Regional Park. We were little late and Manuel, KSN and Ken were already waiting for us. We had to put three bikes on the bike carrier and attach it to the car. Nevertheless, we were late by just 15 minutes. The initial enthu was too much and could be seen when Phani, Chandan and I started racing on the bike track. We didn't even follow the thumb rules like when giving pass the other person they would say 'passing on your left'. As usual, I started doing all possible crazy things. The climb upto the tallest point in this park was tough. It took our lunges to the stress test levels. The decent from the top was fantastic and we went down the hill at 29 miles (46 kms per hour) speed. It was fun. By the time KSN and Ken were back to parking lot and we were heading for making a round of the hills and going at the corner of the bay. We covered 12.1 miles in two and halfs hours of biking with max speed being 29 miles per hour. Take a look at the photographs which were taken by Manuel :-

Biking in Bay Front Park On thursday and Friday this week, Phani and I were biking for an hour in Bay Front Park which is just 1.5 miles away from our Menlo Park Campus. On Friday, Manuel (Phani's manager) and Ken also joined the party. We first made one round of Campus and then headed towards the Bay Front Park. The wind was successful in reducing our speed on Friday. Ken was little slow but we did sync up with him before reaching the park. In the park you will find four-to-five small hills and there are very small trails (just like trekking trails) on them. They are not meant for biking but we have been biking on them too. You'll find the bay at the back of the park and can easily see Dumbarton and San Meato Bridge. We all were successful in climbing those small hills. On the way back we could come at high speed. Once manuel said that I was riding at 20 miles per hour. I immediately started riding faster and must have touched 25 miles per hour (40 kms) on the flat surface. It was wind which perhaps pushed further :-). We covered 6.8 miles in 1.15 hours. Here's the photograph taken by Manuel before starting (2006-05-05 12:30:00.0) Permalink

biking and hiking... Phani, Chandan and I have started biking here in California and the aim is to do mountain biking. Last weekend, we bought Schwin mountain bike and took long rides as well. It has 3x7 gears with front suspension. It's not a performance bike at all -- rather it's a simple bike. After doing some research and going to few shops like Off The Ramp, Walmart, Target and Performance Bikes; we decided to stick to a simple bike. Our bike weights 42lbs. These days I've been working on couple of filesystem issues and a project related to thread affinity. Having good time in California :-) (2006-04-16 11:30:00.0) Permalink
