Working from Home and personality types (it isn't right for everyone...)
Friday Sep 15, 2006
I have worked from home for years now. I love it. I honestly work way more than anyone in an office and gets 150% more done as well. As far as needing interaction with others, I'm an introvert. Some of you are now laughing. But I am sort of a hermit and was never part of the 8 person mobile party, err work lunch where everyone stood around waiting for that eighth person to get off the phone and then the daily "I don't know, where do you want to go".
My wife started working from home in the last month and hates not leaving the house doing all the running around that she used to do... She LOVED the work environment, going to lunch with teammates, and all the office fun stuff. She is NOT getting that on the other end of the phone or via email. I'm not sure that it is going to work for her to work and do it from the quiet of our home.
So if you are considering fulltime employment from home, I would encourage you to think about if you get your energy from other folks or if you recharge your batteries when no one is around and bugging you. I'm a peace and quiet kind of person and love working remotely so the flexibility and power to work remotely that Sun provides me.
