I upgraded last week from SO7 to the new (soon to be released) Star Office 8. The ease of install was great. I did basically nothing and boom, there it was.
I'm a big spreadsheet person and try to use useful patterns in data that everyone else in the company already has... The updated pivot table features and report generation capabilities are great.
My wife has also used SO8 to do a kid birthday party invites and those get pretty tough sometimes but she finds SO8 easier to use than MS Word.
So if you are tired of paying for the MS Office upgrades or your department at works wants to try an alternative, Star Office 8 is for real. Just hang in there for a few more weeks and try it and buy it.
