George Carlin - Dead At 71
I was very sad to read today that George Carlin died yesterday at the age of 71. Been a fan of his for as long as I can remember (yes, I was one of those 9 year olds secretly listening to his albums hoping my folks didn't catch me). A performer and keen observer that definitely got better with age.
A week doesn't go by that I'm not quoting one of his bits. And when I was in high school, I was fortunate to see him perform live - in the front row. Making eye contact while he's doing his thing - amazing.
Of course, everyone remembers the "Seven Words". And with so many fantastic routines, it's impossible to pick a favorite. For whatever reason, the one that came to mind today is the "Advertising Lullaby".
