<P>So I've written a bit about myself and some of my teammates, but I want to know more about who is reading this thing. Anyone? Bueller?</P>
<P>I want this blog to be a place where conversation happens. Where community happens. Where I tell you what's going on here behind-the-scenes in SDN-land and you tell me if your happy, or excited, or bummed out about something that's going on with the Sun Developer Network. </P>
<P>How does that happen? Well, I write, you read, you comment, you participate. So let's have a little participation right now, shall we?</P>
<P>I've got five Sun Developer Network <A href="http://blogs.sun.com/roller/resources/sdnblog/t-shirt.JPG">t-shirts </A>sitting in my office as we speak. I'll mail them to the five folks who offer up what *I* think are the best answers to the following&nbsp;five questions:</P>
<P>1. What Sun technology or product are you currently using and why?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</P>
<P>2. What one benefit would you like to see offered to Sun Developer Network members?</P>
<P>3. What are you currently reading? </P>
<P>4. Favorite blog?</P>
<P>5. Favorite website?</P>
<P>Post your answers in the comments section. I'll post again when I've got the five folks who I think should get the t-shirts. </P>
<P>Let the participation begin!!! ;)</P>

1.) As far as what Sun technology am i using, I am using J2SE 1.5.0 and thinking long and hard about using the Sun Java Studio Enterprise and Sun Java Studio Creator IDEs. 2.) Continue to have discounted book offers and Free stuff offers like the T-shirt's for responding to this blog. 3.) I am currently reading Data Structures and Algorithms in Java by Adam Drozdek. (for school) 4.) This is my first time to ever post on a blog, so i would have to say this is my favorite. 5.) http://java.sun.com/ - for the API specifications, code samples and the latest technology and news regarding developers. That's how I found out about SDN. Little about myself. I'm 30 years old and about 5 years ago I decided to go back to school and had always had an interest in computer programming. 4 years later I received my 1 - year certificate. That's right! 4 years for a 1-Yr certificate. I have a family, work full-time, active in the church, and go to school in the evenings approx 1 to 2 courses per semester. This coming May of 2006 I should receive my Associates of Applied Science - Computer Programming. I have been an intern for the past 1 year for a software development contractor; primarily 100% java. It's been great experience.

1) JDK1.4.2. Java is my preferred programming language. I use Java at work for development of web based applications using Apple's WebObjects framework. I also use Solaris 10 at home as a firewall and NAT machine, running on an old Sun blade 100 sparc cpu box.
2) Free or Discounted Java and Sun shirts or hats.
3) Effective Oracle by Design.

1) Sun ray 1 and srss 3.1 on debian x86 as main home setup. Like the quietness (srss box in another room) and ease of swapping sessions. blade 100 running debian sparc as server/ ntp etc. ultra 60 running sol10 to examine dtrace, zones, etc 2) easier patching/ updates. meet and greets. 3) 'crypto' steven levy and 'dns and bind' ORA 4) planet.gnome.org and boing boing 5) www.guardian.co.uk and www.nyt.com

1. love to lock and load any new solaris OS that makes it to the download section...and of course use java. 2. sun and java merchandise is all that I can think of ... the documentation and downloads are really excellent...this is why I love opensolaris because sun has made such a professional community forum for it. 3. Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation -- by Joseph J. Ellis - it is amazing to compare the times when the country was just starting out to now. 4. the sun employee blogs have given me so much info and hopefully a new shirt ;) 5. slashdot or osnews

Sorry for the late(ish) reply, hope its not too late!! 1) OpenSolaris, because its hot off the shelf and really amazing to play with. Not to mention its sheer power, can I really put services into zones? I'm also using NetBeans becasue the new form designer is soo easy to work with. 2) Again Java goodies, sun gear is killer -just wish I had some. One day.. 3) I'm currently re-reading the Hitch Hikers Guide, because its really funny and quite entertaining perhaps also addictive. 4) MaryMaryQuiteContrary is a great blog to read, she has many adventures and loves her Sun Ray. I'm just getting into blogging and the likes, so I dont check that many blogs. 5) ctrl+alt+del, a great webcomic
