Friday November 24, 2006 Happy Birthday Mevenide -- Huh?
Yes! Well. See? This is what happened:
We got some feedback concerning question 4 of the community contributed quiz: Milos points out that there already was a release of the Mevenide plugin even for NB 4 -- version 0.4! So obviously, "Mevenide" is the right answer to "Which big change was made in the project build process from NetBeans 3.6 to later versions?", he says. Hm... Is he trying to stir up a vast rebellion and influence people's answers to the quiz? Why? Maybe so he has a bigger chance of winning the book...? Sorry Milos, we immediately looked through your cunning plan. ;-P
But of course we appreciate the work Milos &co have done to make that NetBeans plug-in reality. This is why tommorow, Nov 25th 2006, we all celebrate... the second anniversary of Mevenide 0.4! Hurray! :-) (The current version is 2.3 by the way. Worth checking out, too.)

Because wouldn't it be nice if you could see more of the IDE than just a screenshot before you download it? Basically this quick little overview is a screenshot on steroids -- mouse-over and it becomes alive and you get more information about this or that window.
I'll link it from the IDE screenshot on the main product page, and from the Getting Started section in docs and support, so newcomers can easily find it. And I saw Talley working on a spiffy presentation for community and IDE newbies, I'm looking forward to publishing that too soon.
What else is new on nb.org? I added a TOC (table of contents) to the NetBeans Hacks! page because I'll add more hacks over time and it's easier to keep track of them by just bookmarking one page. That's all, have nice weekend (and have a nice holiday, if applicable)!
