Did you know that Nicolas started to develop a NetBeans JavaScript Editor module for *.js files? In his blog, he wrote yesterday:
A couple of days ago I wrote a basic Javascript module for NetBeans 5.0 It supports custom Syntax coloring, indentation (ctrl-shift-F), stub code generation for classes, and other NetBeans Editor features like navigation history, bookmarks, macros, abbreviations, etc. The major part of the code comes directly from NetBeans — I took the classes for syntax and indentation for the Java Editor and just modified them to JavaScript. Only the class creation dialogue I created myself from scratch. [...]
And he also says he took the opportunity to use Matisse to implement the class creation dialogue! :-)
Nicolas recommends online installation. Add his udpate server to the list of update centers:
- Go to the NetBeans Menu > Tools > Options > Advanced Options > IDE Configuration > System > Autoupdate Types
- Right-click on Autoupdate Types and choose New > General Update Center from the menu.
- As a name, type in "Liguorien Update Center"
- After the item is created, click on the node on the right side and edit the server URL value to
http://www.liguorien.com/download/jseditor/updates.xml - Close the Option window
These steps you need to do only once. Now when you now go to Menu > Tools > Update Center, you can select the "Liguorien Update Center" to install the JavaScript module like you install other NetBeans modules. This method is very handy, because now you can update the module by just going to the update center in the future.
Alternatively, you can download com-liguorien-jseditor.nbm and then install it by going to the Menu > Tools > Update Center, and choosing to install an NBM file. Using this method, you will have to download each update yourself when he announces them.
