Nominations Are Open

Just a heads-up that NetBeans Governance Board Elections are approaching. Nominate your favorite candidates from the NetBeans community that you think should (and want to) become a board member by sending a message with their name to nbdiscuss AT netbeans DOT org, or use the contact form. The nomination period ends September 7th, then we'll make another call to vote for the nominated candidates.

Wondering what a governance board is, how it is elected, and who is on it? It's explained in the What is Open Source? section of netbeans.org. Being a board member means that you show interest in getting a deeper insight in decisions that make the NetBeans community tick, and that you take the responsibility to find a solution together with the other board members if a question concerning the community comes up. Things like, what license do we use, or will some NetBeans "representative" attend the Google Summer of Code. To see more examples of what the board actually does, have a look at the (low traffic) nbdiscuss mailing list archive.
