SEMUG JULY 18 BRIEFING: REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Greetings, I am pleased to invite you to the July 18 meeting of our Sun Entertainment & Media User Group (SEMUG). The topic for this session will be Consumer and Embedded Java, or Java for consumers -- individuals -- not just enterprises. We'll provide an update from the JavaOne 2007 Conference on our recently announced JavaFX family of products that have been designed to dramatically enhance the number of people who can write applications to run multimedia content on Java-equipped PCs, handheld devices and mobile phones. Disney Mobile will present its unique and "magical" mobile offering to help parents manage their children's entire cell phone experience -- all developed and deployed using Java ME (Java Platform, Micro Edition). And, Empact Interactive Media will show you how Java transforms everyday television programs into interactive shopping experiences. Mr. Kapczynski has over fifteen years of combined Information Technology and Media & Entertainment experience, currently serving as CEO of MESoft Corporation, which he founded in 2002. Under Mr. Kapczynski's leadership, the company grew its distribution to a global level and partners with leading IT companies, such as SUN and AMD, and media companies that include Ascent Media and Avid. Prior to MESoft, Mr. Kapczynski was Director of the Worldwide Media & Entertainment Solutions Group for Microsoft Corporation. While at Microsoft, he pioneered the way that media systems were to be linked together using software to replace physical and tape-based systems in production and distribution. To that end, he deployed Microsoft-based digital distribution solutions and headed up development of IPTV, VOD, Digital Cinema and digital dailies software applications.
