Sun Tech Days 2009 Feb 18th to 20th "सन टेक दिन" :

We started from Bangalore at 3.00 am and took a cab to Bangalore International Airport, my first time visit to BIA. Wow! what a great experience It sensed me has an European airport. I reached there on time as no traffic the early hour and rushed to the terminal. Our Plane as about to board and we got in at right time. Our baggages we heavier than us as we were taking goodies to Sun Tech Days. After we reached the Hyderabad in the early morning at 7.10 am and came out of the airport to catch a taxi and reached HICC at around 8.30 am. It took a long time to get inside the Hotel due to the security checks and were served room late at about 9.30 am.

We got freshened and rushed to the Globalization Booth. The Booth was suppose to start at 8.30 am, but started at last at 10.00 am. We just needed to startup with our presentations on our laptops we took with us.

By the time booth had started we were covered with students all over the place asking what's going on in the booth. Even though we had no Internet access to the internal network, we had to manage some how. Initially we had planned the survey online to keep as a fast process. Well that how it go on everywhere we need to adjust it and manage them.

1st day of the key note from the James Gosling ,"The father of Java" was speaking at the audience and for me as I have been doing Java over a decade felt like one my dreams coming true, I saw "The Father of Java" James. It was an amazing key note from him. Wow! I really felt proud about how he still codes for an hour per day. He his talk of JavaFX was felt the audience, as he moved on after the key note 100s of students garbing him for an autographs. Certainly the securities had a big time in stopping the crowd around him.

In booth we had give away Goodies like caps, bags, key chains, pens..etc for the students and developer. The crowd was awesome and many of them use to comeup with different answers to the quiz. Every hour we use to publish the lucky onces  for the correct answers. Our presentation touched most of the crowd, even sun employee came for presentations. The Quiz papers distributed was around 700 forms and got all submitted to the booth drop box around 684, so it meant that most of them not just listened to the presentation and walk aways, but they did participated the quiz and got knowledgeable about the Globalization. Most of the came the specific problems like, one was he wanted to have a real time system for translation service for audio mechanism in their firm for speech recognition and speech translation. Some student had a project of video and audio library written for Malayalam language and he was finding difficult to make it available to all Indian languages.

We have a Lab Session at 4.30 pm, called as Learn to Internationalize your Java, JavaFX, AJAX and Portlet Applications Hands-on Lab.

We started the Hands on Session(http://www.sercononline.com/suntechdays09/labs.html#java ) with this presentation and gave introduction of how to internationalize the application using Java, Swings, JavaFX and AJAX enabled Web applications, Portal application. We had a format of taking from a simple java programming to rich web based application. We expected around 10-15 people and the session had a count of 50-55 members participating, as the crowd was little more than expected we managed to give them the lab manuals and softwares in USB drives and DVDs. In response by the users were very good and were very enthu about executing samples of the lab. Many of them had very little experience in internationalization and were eager to see the application running in Hindi. Most of the students were short of time in executing the sample application and requested to come to the Globalization booth to finish their lab. It was the best part lab, where all of them turned up on the early morning eager  see their lab samples.

And let us not forget the Fashion Show as well ...

Wait ... And...most fun part of the function, dance performances too....

At the end of 3rd day we were almost freed by the crowd and just went around the city to see some places like, Hussain Sagar is a lake in Hyderabad, India built by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali in 1562, during the rule of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah and Golkonda (or Golconda) Telugu గోల్కొండ , a ruined city of south-central India and capital of ancient Kingdom of Golkonda (c. 1364–1512)., is situated west of Hyderabad. We shopped for around a hour and took good Mangatrai pearls have been in the trade for the last seven decades. By consistently delivering high quality pearls.

It was evening time, we got back on the way to Airport, but missed the flight due to traffic jam for around a hour and went to Amerpet for the stay in a Hotel. Next night we left back to Bangalore. It was one of amazing trips I had, little bumpy, but could able to manage my trip.
