Gasp, I just went to slashdot to see what's happening in the world and to my horror it wasn't there :

503 Service Unavailable

I wonder if content syndication has allowed some form of recursive slashdotting ?

From the article earlier today: "We�re taking the system down tonight for a some system updates. We expect to go down around 9 (eastern) and hope to be back up by midnight. This is a pretty substantial upgrade, but the changes are almost entirely �Under the Hood� type fixes."
