I did try to leave a comment on Tim's blog; three times but it barfed for three different reasons. So here's my vote for the most iconic design of the 20th Century :
I'd like to think of something positive and uplifting but given the amount of conflict in the 20th C. I'd go for the minefield sign.
I can't imagine many would not recognize it - even those of us lucky enough to not live near one.
Clearly minefields and minefield signs we're not a 20th C. invention but their use really hockey-sticked during that time.
