It was with great sadness that I learned this evening of the passing of Herbert Keppler. Mr. Keppler had a 57-year career in photography, most notably contributing to industry magazines Modern Photography and Popular Photography. Jason Schneider, currently editor of Pop Photo, has written a nice memorial for Keppler: http://www.popphoto.com/popularphotographyfeatures/4968/in-memoriam I remember Keppler from the late 1970's when I was first becoming interested in photography. I switched my subscription from Pop Photo to Modern Photography because the latter contained his column, "Keppler's SLR Notebook." I found his insight and analysis to be very educational, and his columns were a great influence on me. The guy certainly knew how to keep up with technology. He even had a blog. The latest entry has news of his illness, and now that he has passed there are some comments with condolences: http://keppler.popphoto.com/blog/2007/12/speaking-frankl.html Mr. Keppler, I'll miss you.
