Sun to acquire innotek
Wednesday Feb 13, 2008
"Virtualization" is the buzzword. We see everything being virtualized these days, and Sun has taken some innovative steps in this field. One of the steps has led to a shipping container converted into a datacenter.
Moving on along the lines of virtualization, Sun has recently announced the acquisition of innotek, the developers of VirtualBox. VirtualBox, in case you dont know, is an open source initiative to run guest operating systems inside Windows/Linux/Macintosh or OpenSolaris. Surely coupling their innovations with Sun's initiatives like xVM and Solaris Containers should surely be a boon to the industry.
This, I guess, is the second major acquisition this year, and I have high hopes out of this one.
