Seedcamp ran a Mini-Seedcamp's in Tel Aviv at the end of January and CrictorNews was there to capture it on video:
In this interview we speak with the Founder and the CEO of Seedcamp about whether they have seen any specific trend in product/service area among European High Tech companies, what Seedcamp has to offer Israeli High Tech companies and if they think there is an advantage in entering the European market instead of heading directly to the US.
This one hasn't been asked but what do Israeli High Tech start-ups of Jan 2009 need most of all for their livelihood - is it mentors or just simply plain old cash?
On February 19 Sun Startup Essentials Israel and the local ISV Engineering team ran the the first ever JRuby on Rails with GlassFish Code Camp.
Though it wasn't a great turnout we did get support from our local Ruby experts Astrails
who gave us a presentation on Ruby. You can see their blog posting for their presentation.
The following are some quotes from the attendees:
Thank you for the code camp. It was very interesting and quite practical. Good emphasis on hands-on / background balance. I was impressed from the kit you provided, which included excercises, solutions and the working environment. The presentations were given in a nice manner. Live demonstrations have an added value.

The DTrace presentation by Amit showed it to be an amazing tool which is practically a must-have for anyone serious about understanding where a software application or system spends its time. Me & my group shall definitely like to learn more about this tool.

So you missed Rich Zippel's visit to Israel
For those of you not "in the know", Rich was the VP for the Chief Technology Office at Sun Microsystems reporting to CTO Gregg Papdopolous. Rich's responsibilities were around Sun's lab research centers. Rich has a broad view over Sun's wide technology focusing on the cloud computing market.
Rich came to Israel to present at the IGT World Summit of Cloud Computing. But while he was here I had him meet with some of the local VCs and consultants
as well as get him in front of the local startup community. We also had a presentation from Zeev Fisher, lawyer for Appelfeld Zer Fiscer about issues with patents at the USPTO.
See Rich talk about storage, collaboration and cloud computing:
