staves

about the blog title and image

the word stave is a synonym to staff. staves is a plural for stave.

since this blog is for staff and senior staff engineers assigned to or visiting eri, we feel staves is an appropriate title.

(stave also refers to a set of five horizontal lines used in music. this is a neat coincidence for us since there are five original members on the alias... aaron, david, paul, peter, and robs.)

the illustration was a sketch of gandalf drawn by ralph baksi for his 1978 movie, The Lord of the Rings, and is available through the Ralph Bakshi web site.

the image was chosen because it shows a staff/stave, and because some of us are, well, old.
