Just finished Michael Lewis' Coach as I sat waiting for the
plane from Minneapolis back to Newark. The book is, in short,
a must-read for every parent. If you have kids playing sports
at a recreational level, on a travel team, in high school or
in college, read the book. It's not, as some narrow reviewers
have suggested, a memoir evolved from Lewis' salad days of
playing high school baseball. It's about what happens when
parents lose sight of the fact that sports are played (a) to
have fun (b) as a team and and (c)to win or lose. In that
order.
