Coverage of the Sun Connection Launch

Yesterday we launched the new Sun Connection Inventory Channel. I was really happy with the press coverage we got. There were three stories that were picked up by several outlets.

The first story is at eWeek. It was also picked up at CIO Insight, Baseline Magazine, and Channel Insider.

Another story at Information Week was also picked up at IT News.

Lastly, there was an article in IT Week that was also picked up by VNUNet, Channel Web and Computing.

This is great coverage for a new product like this. Thanks to the team and built it, and special thanks to the marketing team for making the launch such a success!

Does this require YAAS (Yet Another Account Setup)? I really tire of these things. For instance I love Sol10 (best server OS release I've seen in 20 years of sys admin work) and I love your Niagara and x64 lines. But ... I register once for Update Connection to get patches. I register a second time to send in Sun Explorer reports and I register a third time for Sun Configuration and Service Tracker. That is 3 times for 1 system all going to the same company (Sun!). Plus I have to setup another server to be the CST middleware server (CST doesn't run in a zone). Give me a product that does the following and I will stop saying all those nasty (but true) things like "why does Sun put so many lead saddles on these race horses?". 1) I register the server ONCE and once only! 2) Allow me to access the patches that our support contract stipulates 3) Work on the x64 platform (CST doesn't) 4) Send any info Sun requires (explorer, CST etc) to Sun 5) Use TCP and 1 port so I can get the firewall rules done ONCE! 6) Track all changes to a system. 7) Keep a record for our inventory purposes 8) When our contract number changes the info automatically updates (no re-register the servers). Go ahead and make my day/week/month/year/decade/career :) Thanks
