First Ops Center Code Goes Open Source
Last week we announced some key dates for Sun xVM Ops Center. We announced that we plan to ship the first version of Ops Center in January, but we won't be waiting until then to start sharing the core technology. A major differentiator for the xVM effort is that it will all be open source, and we've announced that the Ops Center management code will be available under the General Public License (GPL) v3 through the new Open xVM community. At the core of Ops Center is some technology called the Common Agent Container (CAC). On Monday, we've posted the source code to this key technology. You can go over to java.net and check it out! CAC offers a simple way to unify a sea of management protocols through JMX. You can read more about CAC here. Expect to see more Ops Center code coming to Open xVM over the first months of 2008!
