Sun Wows the Crowd at Oracle OpenWorld
VNUnet has an article with a great title today: Sun Wows the Crowd at Oracle OpenWorld. It discusses Sun's announcements around the Dell/Solaris agreement and Sun xVM. Yesterday was great fun. I got to get up on stage with Rich and Jonathan to and give the first public demo of xVM Ops Center. We showed off managing physical and virtual systems in a collection of different data centers. It was really cool, but was also a bit of an adventure. There were around 10,000 people in the room, with more on the web cast. Right at the start of the demo, I hit the log in button and got a "wait" cursor. I waited, and waited (and started to sweat a little)... Then I closed the browser, opened a fresh one, clicked log in and was in instantly. Whew! After that the demo went off great. Thanks to Tushar, Carl, Steve S and the gang for pulling it together. There was tons of other good press about xVM that resulted from the event. Here are a few... Just for fun, here's a picture that marketing and style maven Liz took with her iPhone while I was on stage doing the demo. She had incidentally made me buy new jeans for the event so I wouldn't look too unfashionable.
