Tracking Linux Installations
Earlier this year I announced that Sun was starting to add network discovery protocols to all of it's products. Since then, we've added our Service Tag technology to products like Solaris, Sun MC, Java Enterprise System and the new T5120 Cool Threads server. Shortly after announcing this technology, we made available our free inventory service that customers can use to track their IT assets. Many of Sun's largest customers have started to adopt the tool, and in fact, they've been asking us if they can use it to track non-Sun assets. Who are we to say no to our best customers? To that end, we've just released service tags for Linux, so you can track your RedHat, SuSE, Debian and Ubuntu linux operating systems. You can download the new Linux tags (along with new revisions of the Solaris 8, 9 and 10 tags) from the Sun Download center. Just go to https://sunconnection.sun.com/inventory/ and click the button marked Download Service Tags. Have fun! Posted at 05:00AM Dec 04, 2007 by Stephen Wilson in DataCenter | Comments:
