Virtualization Smackdown!
ZDNet is running the first head-to-head comparison review of an xVM product vs. a VMware product! Go check it out here. This review of xVM VirtualBox 1.6 vs. VMware Server 2.0 does a really good job of bringing out the core strengths of VirtualBox. Here are some good quotes:
Great job VirtualBox team! I spent Saturday installing more operating systems inside VirtualBox at SuperHappyDevHouse. I showed it to a number of people and they were all really impressed. Several downloaded it and installed it right there. The more people that find out about this, the more fall in love with it. Now, I can't wait for the xVM Server vs. VMware ESX Smackdown to start this Summer! Posted at 07:59AM May 21, 2008 by Stephen Wilson in Virtualization | Comments[5] |

Sorry Steve,
no offense here but this comparison seems pretty much absurd:
1) VMware Server 2.0 is still a beta code while VirtualBox 1.6 is a GA code
2) VMware Server is a server product while VirtualBox is a desktop product
VirtualBox is a good solution but it's not with such apple-to-orange comparison that it would emerge.

Alessandro, no offense taken. Remember, we didn't write the review. This was produced by ZDNet. That being said, even if it wasn't a comparison between two products, the number of nice things they had to say about VirtualBox is outstanding. I'm very pleased with the reaction that product is seeing in the market!

It would be nice if Sun xVM VBox can fully support the 64-bit Guest Oses. I am surprised this was not touched up on in the review.
