Great to see. I would highly recommend you also make use of the squashfs tools already available for Redhat.
squashfs-tools-3.0-4.i386.rpm
http://rpmseek.com/rpm/squashfs-tools-3.0-4.i386.html?hl=com&cs=mksquashfs:FN:0:0:0:0:3151687
It makes modifying the files so easy. All you have to do is "unsquashfs" the file and it expands it then make your changes and "mksquashfs" and you are done.
It makes creating a custom boot CD for disaster recovery a snap.

Hi Tim,
The tools have already been ported, compiled, and posted on the Squashfs Project Page: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/squashfs/files/ :-)
Thanks for your comment!
