Student views on the cloud, zembly
Renato Porto Puccini has written a nice blog that defines and looks at the advantages of cloud computing, and discusses how many of the benefits of working in the cloud (and more) can be found in Zembly.
As noted by Renato, "Zembly is itself a social community or network which has users like you creating widgets or social applications, which means that you can reuse and share pieces or parts, or even whole applications." Zembly "provides you a way to develop and show to the world your creativity and capacity."
Renato believes that cloud computing and Zembly would be a good topic for campus ambassadors to discuss in their tech talks, and I agree. Cloud computing is a very hot topic and I know many are anxious to see Sun's offering that will hopefully be coming soon! I also hope that by posting it here more students will check out zembly and the myriad of benefits it offers.
In fact, there is a contest happening right now at Zembly.com for a chance to win $200 -- but you better get moving because it ends in only two days!
These are the steps you need to take to enter:
- Use Zembly -- create a Facebook app, mashup, widget, or custom application.
- Blog about it -- tell us about your apps, write a review about your experience, or even embed a widget inside your blog entry.
- Send us a pointer to your blog for a chance to win a $200 gift certificate! Send an e-mail to contest@zembly.com with a link to your blog entry, your name, e-mail address, country and mailing address to be used for prizes.
Prizes include:
- First prize: The top 5 winners will receive a $200 American Express Gift Certificate.
- Second Prize: The next top 100 blog entries will receive a Zembly T-shirt.
