And so it begins

Who writes on this blog?
'The Starlight Template and Renderer Team'

Seriously... who are they?
We create data entry forms so that publishing teams can author web content via a GUI environment. The team also create JSP solutions to take the authored data and do neat things with it.  We are mostly powered by XML and Mars Bars.

Got any examples of these so called 'neat' solutions?
Of course...

What kind of technologies does this team deal with?
XML/RNG (lots of it), JSP with a little Perl. All of this runs on top of Sun's technologies including Solaris, Sun Java System Application Server and Sun Java Systems Web Server. There is a slightly out of date discussion of how this all fits together here.

Are there blogs for others connected to this team?

(almost) all the way to the top of Sun...

And in other connected groups:

  • Tim Caynes (Job Title Unknown, probably even to him, he uses InDesign a lot if that helps)
  • WxD (the webdesign people... actually this is Tim again)
  • Andrew Payne (WebDesign CSS/JS guru and overall HTML overlord)

So, to summarise[1], we provide the building blocks to allow the people in publishing to get their content delivered to the web, with the maximum amount of reuse and no involvement in presentation.

[1] The locale of this blog content is firmly en_GB.

Comments:

Nice start! Love to see some interesting bits from the whole team soon!
