Vote.
Nothing at all to do with privacy today.
I am *almost* tempted to break my own rule about not publishing pictures of my girls online to post a picture of Miss Thang, placing my absentee ballot in the ballot box this morning. She woke up at 5 am all excited & said "IS IT TIME TO VOTE FOR xxx?!"
At 7am, we cast our vote for the future. I wore my red cole haans (my only tip to luxury items) & she wore silver sparkel shoes, a Red white & blue star covered T-shirt & US flag design baseball cap with her beautiful pony tail hanging out the back & a smile that I'll never forget.
Whomever they may be. Let's hope the new team in the US gets it together to lead us out of this mess. We have a fresh chance.

How fabulous to be that enthusiastic about voting at such a young age. Long may that last! I didn't even get up at 5am to post my letter to Father Christmas... ;^)

Whoever you chose to vote for, Happy New President.
From what I know of both candidates, it's fair to say that America (and by extension, the world) was always going to end up a very different place, as a result of this election; it's just a matter of what the differences are now going to be.
As BBC Radio 4 incisively put it, this morning, there's always a major difference between what a newly-elected candidate offers and what they deliver, simply because they typically don't have the experience of having been in the world's most powerful (and public) job, before; and this is always why, unlike how things operate over here, there's a warm-up period between electoral success and assumption of office, to allow for the equivalent of a cabinet to be carefully chosen and brought up to speed.
The fact that the Democrats have a majority in both houses, is also going to make life interesting, in terms of the ease with which changes can move from proposals to policy; I assume Obama will be resigning from the Senate pretty soon, too.
Whatever happens, the next four years are going to be far from dull. There's a lot of issues to be handled, and great care and insight will be required.

I remember my first time voting in the US and my son (then 5 and it was a mid term primary) was along for the occasion. He continues to recognize that the 'vote' has value. Leading up to Nov 4 he (now 16) knew that the 2008 vote was an historic event. I am not sure who is more excited about the future, Stuart or me. At any rate, our future leaders learned first hand that standing up and being counted has merit. I am overjoyed at that particular side effect.
Ms Thang, I too woke up too early for the polling station to be open and the closest thing I wore that was a reflection of America was my Red Sox cap!
Indeed it is a lot of fun living in 'interesting times'.
Good luck President-Elect Obama, I am excited about the future.
