Thursday, 17-July-2008 1330-17030@Sun Philippines Office

We have a good mixed of sales folks and system engineers from WSI, GSI, Comclark, Terabyte, Infostorage, Northgate and EBDI joining us for this afternoon's Thirsty Thursday session, to talk about the mean machines from Sun - Systems and Storage products. We also invited our ISV partner - SAP Philippines to share with us about their industry leading BI solution - Business Objects.

The lead speakers are Weng and RJ, subject-matter-expert for x64 & CMT Systems and Storage respectively. We often surprised and sad to learn that our partners and customers might not be knowing about Sun's infrastructure products as well as they do for other competitors, which is also a very clear indicator that we, as Sun's pre-sales, need to do a lot more and try as we might of all possible avenues and opportunities to properly and timely deliver the messages. Therefore, this Thirsty Thursday together with Tech Share sessions will serve as the spearhead programs to reach out to our partners and community.

I would also like to re-emphasize the key take-aways here:

(1) Sun believes in different workloads require different systems/storage platforms as oppose to one-size-fits-all approaches by the big blue. Thus Sun pioneered and delivered the world first's cool (use less power) multithreaded (do more jobs concurrently) processor technology - UltraSPARC T1/T2 processor, the highest-throughput and most eco-responsible processor ever created.

(2) In x64 platforms, Sun Systems delivers twice the computing power (CPUs and RAMs) and expansion capabilities (PCI Express slots) in one rack unit compares to others.

(3) Sun Systems and Storage are GREEN, they are cooler and use less power yet churning unparalleled watt/performance results, see BMSeer - Performance for further information.

(4) Mixed drives/slots in the StorageTek tape libraries and mixed CPUs in the M-Series systems are a norm to Sun, where no others could do it as easy as we did! Why is this important - Investment Protection for Customers! No fork-lift Upgrade!

(5) Open Storage Initiative, changing the rules changing the games! Behold, we will dive in more in our future session.

August programs highlight:

15-Aug-2008 Tech Share (M-Series and Virtualization on CMT)

22-Aug-2008 Thirsty Thursday (Backup Solution and DR/BCP Discussion) - TBC

Calling all hands (sales and pre-sales), please do share with us if you have any specific topics of interest, all suggestions and ideas are very much welcomed!

Stay tune and see you then.

SAP says they are business process enablement company; where as We (Sun) says Sun is the technology and infrastructure solution company;

Do you agree? Please share with us about your thoughts...

Ernie and I have always wanted to create a venue by which all our partner SEs (including Sun Philippines folks) could get together to discuss technology, solutions and specific area of interests pertaining to Sun Vision and Technology, as well as the interesting happenings from the vast ever-changing IT world. This would be one of the key platforms for us to exchange ideas in a free-flowing style, with a light but equally productive atmosphere where we can learn from each other.

Today's session is our very first of a series of technical forums for SE community in Philippines, and we have invited our storage subject matter expert - James to chair this Sun Storage discussion with technical folks from GSI, Comclark, Terabyte and Infostorage.

James is chairing the Sun Storage discussion SEs are really paying attentions...

I would also like to take this opportunity to "selamat" all our partners for showing such a great commitment and interest in supporting this SE community session.

Thanks to our storage guru - James, we all benefit a lot from this lively session focusing in solution areas like virtual tape library backup and de-duplication. We will definitely revisit this topic again and as soon as more updates and evolutions are available.
