OpenSolaris Chat Transcript

Yesterday we had a chat in Second Life on OpenSolaris. We were lucky
to have a terrific panel including Tim Cramer, Glynn Foster, David
Comay and Stephen Hahn. We had some technical difficulties (such is
life in Second Life!) so we were unable to use voice chat. The good
news is that allowed us to copy a transcript to share here! Also, the

Developer Conference in Prague, June 25-27. This conference aims to
bring y'all together to meet, talk, and network while learning and
creating code. The topics range from kernal hacking to networking to
dtrace sniffing and that is just a teeny tiny sample.

Campus Ambassador of the Month: Christopher Leung

This month's featured Campus Ambassador is Christopher Leung. While Christopher's time as a Campus Ambassdor is coming to a close, what he has done in the past year is really inspiring. Christopher is graduating from the University of Southern California with a Masters of Science in Computer Science.. Among his many accomplishments, Christopher is the founder and chair of Project:
Possibility
, a nonprofit,
community service project committed to creating groundbreaking open
source software for the disabled community.

New Course for Students!

Check it out! Sun is now offering an Introduction to Sun SPOTS course. This course is intended to be used by students wanting to learn how to develop application fo Sun Small Programmable Object Technology (SPOTS) and will be taught by Simon Ritter, Angela Caicedo, Arshan Poursohi and Roger Meike.

While you are checking out the Sun SPOT course you'll also want to look at:
Introduction to Solaris
and OpenSolaris.org and Real World Technologies: NetBeans GUI Builder, JRuby,
JavaFX and
JavaME.
