OpenSolaris 2009.06 is coming soon. Therefore we took the translated content for projects contributed by the community and integrated it to OpenSolaris. At the same time I was able to obtain some interesting data about translations I would like to share with you.

Data was obtained for contributions done via CTI tool - the tool that is preferred for translation of SW messages and Online help. Check the list of top contributors now!

Top Contributors

There are 65 external people that contributed with their translations into more than 20 languages. Of course there are a lot of internal Sun people who greatly supported this project. The list of the contributors is available at i18n-l10n sites of opensolaris.org.

Because we highly appreciate such help, we decided to give a small present to the top contributors. As a threshold we took 100 translated segments, so there are 16 people that pass this limit. As a present we will send Globalization t-shirt, designed by G11n EMEA team. Congrats!

Since there is a big difference between the 1st and 2nd place regarding to number of translated segments, I'd like to send another cool thing to the winner - 'ahosam'. This is about book 'Rich Client Programming' from Sun Microsystems.

What Next?

Even though we were targeting OpenSolaris 2009.06, the translation projects will remain opened for additional translations and/or l10n bug fixing. Such translations will go directly to Development IPS repository of OpenSolaris, so everybody can update his/her box with latest translations. So do not worry, your contribution will not be lost. And if you are new here - do not wait and join the localization team and start with contribution :-)
