Docs are more than "just docs" in GlassFish ESB
Friday Sep 12, 2008
Sun just announced the first milestone release for GlassFish ESB today. GlassFish ESB is a binary release of components from Open ESB. When GlassFish ESB is released, it will be the first Sun-supported release of Open ESB components.
The docs group is an integral part of Sun's project team, doing a lot more than "just docs." Without naming names, doc group work has included:
- helping with website planning, design and implementation -- check it out at GlassFish ESB-- Thank you Frank Kieviet, our community leader
- helping to develop and produce new multi-media materials that support the release-- See the Cool 5 Minute Video Narrated by Mike Somekh, Introduction to GlassFish ESB
- cleaning up the OpenESB wiki pages (still working on this one)
- redesigning the OpenESB doc landing page (still working on this one)
- developing templates for the community to use for develping documentation-- see JBI Component Guide Template and JBI Component Quick Start Template
- and of course, the GlassFish ESB docs, that is, user documentation for installation and for using the JBI components that are part of this release
The doc team is working side-by-side with the developers and other team members to produce this new release, which leverages open source components and the work of the Open ESB community. There's more documentation coming, in addition to screencasts and other training materials. We're partnering with whoever we can to publish more content. This is all about collaboration and community. Send your feedback to users@open-esb.dev.java.net. Let us know if we can partner with you to develop more than " just docs" for Open ESB.
