What's New in eIndex, eView, eInsight and eGate API Kit docs?

Thursday May 10, 2007

There's a lot of new features in the Java CAPS 5.1.3 documentation.

  • The eIndex Single Patient View User’s Guide includes a new tutorial to help users get quickly started using an eIndex application.
  • The eView Studio User’s Guide includes a new chapter documenting how to use the new Configuration Editor.
  • A new book, eGate™ API Kit for JMS IQ Manager (COBOL Edition), was added to the eGate API Kit documentation with, the release of the new API kit for COBOL.
  • The eInsight Business Process Manager User’s Guide underwent extensive rewrites for this release. The guide was reorganized for clarity and readability, and areas of confusion were identified and clarified (specifically in regard to LDAP and database configuration). Changes to the guide resolved 34 customer issues.
    • More specifically, the eInsight Business Process Manager User’s Guide documents the following new features:

      • Importing and converting BPEL 1.1 to 1.0.
      • The ability to edit attributes and partners, and eInsight’s ability to propagate those changes throughout the Business Process code.
      • Information and instructions for configuring and running the five samples provided with eInsight.
      • Information and instructions to assist users with fully configuring the OpenLDAP directory for the audit processing tutorial and user activity sample.
      • Information and instructions for the Worklist Manager Task Assignment Panel.
      • Information and instructions for generating email notifications with the Worklist Manager.
      • Importing and converting BPEL 1.1 to 1.0.
      • Information and instructions for working with decisions, flows, and while loops.
      • Descriptions for eInsight Engine and Worklist Manager configuration properties.
      • General information and instructions for creating Connectivity Maps, Deployment Profiles, and Env Parameter descriptions for the methods provided in the Business Rule Designer.
      • Descriptions for activity and link properties.
      • Information and instructions for defining custom logging and alerts for Business Process elements.
      • Instructions for suspending, resuming, and terminating a Business Process instance using Enterprise Manager.
      • Instructions for archiving and purging data by Business Process name.

Thanks to Carol Thom for the low down!

I'll pass your request on to my team and see what they recommend.

Hi Sivaraman,

I would recommend the following path:

  1. Read the first few chapters of the eGate User's Guide.
  2. Do the basic eGate sample scenario.
  3. ------------------------------------
    Throughout steps 2 through 8:
Take notes on material that's missing from the documentation, and/or any places where you find it difficult to find or understand the material, and use the docfeedback address to let us know.
    ------------------------------------
  4. Do additional reading in the eGate User's Guide, as needed, to clarify concepts and fundamentals.
  5. Do some of the easier eWay samples, such as File eWay and Batch eWay. For now, do just the JCD samples, not the BPEL ones.
  6. Experiment with some of your own projects.
  7. Move on to the more advanced eGate and eWay sample scenarios, using business processes and web services.
  8. Read some of the chapters in the eInsight User's Guide.
  9. Do one or more of the sample scenarios provided with eInsight.
