System Management Trefor with an F

Saturday Jul 14, 2007

So I'm currently investigating the Mountain Bike market, looking to replace my trusty old Claud Butler I bought after graduating from Uni (yeah yeah, they had invented the wheel at that time). Why is it that bike manufacturers don't tell you the weight any more?? Scott are the only one I've found so far. Annoying.

I know this isn't the only factor in buying, but its a good starting point for me when one objective in getting a new hardtail is to save a few lbs in weight (those who know me will know I haven't got much human weight to lose).

My current favourites which I need to test ride: Scott Scale 50, Trek 6700 disk, Specialized Rockhopper or similar.

With the current pound for dollar exchange rate I might even buy one in the US and pay the VAT on the way into the UK (it is hard to smuggle a bike in your suitcase).
