Chinese Income Grew

China Daily reported that for the 1st quarter of 2006, the average income for the nation's city dwellers rose 15%. The article was based on the report from the National Bureau of Statistics that is in Chinese. If the same rate for the rest of the year, this will be a record year. For the past 5 years, Chinese enjoyed 14.07% increases of income every year. 2006 does not look to be any less.

GDP grew 10.2% for the 1st quarter, slightly more than last year's 9.9%. For Beijing area, GDP grew 13.3% for the same quarter. The income for its residents probably grew more than the national average as well.
