There is a Sun Blade 2500 work station in Software Laboratory in my university. But few of students know how to use it. The OS in this machine is SunOS 5.10(Solairs 10 Update 2 6/06)
I wanted to update the operating system, but there were some problems which need to solve.
I used the key "stop+A" in its Sun special keyboard, and entered into {ok} mode.
when I typed "boot cdrom", the system show
"Can't read disk label.
Can't open disk label package"
I checked the DVDROM was ok, and DVD disks were also no problem.
After many tries and fails, I finally found that the CMOS chip of Sun blade 2500 was SPARC, and all the dvd disk I tried were Solaris10 for x86. I needed a DVD disk for sparc.
After successful installation, I installed Oracle in Solaris 10. I was bothered by changing authority so many times.
Next time, I will try to install Opensolaris0906 in this machine, because it's more easier to use and, perhaps, more familiar.
