Slide deck from Oklahoma City OpenSolaris User Group (OKCOSUG) presentation

I threw together a quick and dirty overview of pNFS, OpenSolaris, and the work I do. It doesn't go into detail, but it is another reference on how to get an OpenSolaris pNFS community up and running.

I need to revisit it with vbox examples. I ran out of time, which I regret.

The crowd was good - I ended up slanting the slides towards a crowd that would be willing to play with beta software. In retrospect, I wish I had drawn out the crowd more to see how they might be interested in deploying pNFS.

One of my themes in the presentation, i.e., I'm not sure it would come out in just reading the slides, is that as developers, we are focused on delivering feature functionality right now and not on management. I'm not talking about data management, we have a great story there with spe, but in pNFS community management. I.e., how does an admin manage the set of machines.

The BUI (and scripting in the CLI) on the Unified Storage 7000 really drives home this point. Taking that approach and extending it such that the BUI on the MDS also configures the DSes would be a major bonus in our implementation.

Oh yeah, the slides are available at okcosug-pnfs-spe.pdf
