I just passed my driving test today after two failed attempts. Odd enough, I've been driving in Thailand for years before I came to Canada and never had any accident there. Not to mention that Vancouver traffic seems mellow compare to the chaos on the street in Thailand.

Once I passed the test, I just realized that there's a big different in 'driving safe' and 'safe driving'. IMHO, driving safe relates to me not hitting or getting hit by someone else. This doesn't include the situation where your driving cause others to be in a harmful situation!

At least on the test, what we gotta do is 'safe driving'. This means that we are aware of other street patrons, environment, and follow traffic rules strictly. The only reason (that I could think of) for me failing twice would be the 'driving safe' habit I got from Thailand. I learned my lesson. Hopefully I'll become a better driver.

Moral of the story: driving without an accident is hard enough, but safe driving is much harder!

Hmm... not sure I understood the difference. But after two accidents within a year, I'm convinced there's little we can do keep us safe in traffic. There's always someone not paying enough attention :P
