OK. So today's my 2nd day in San Francisco. J1 registration was from 2pm-6pm. Today's SF weather was too nice, way to nice to just do the registration =), so I decided to do a city tour of my own for the rest of the day.

Got up at 5am...I had trouble sleeping last night. Probably because my body still can't adjust to time change - three days ago I was in Thailand, then spent a day in Vancouver, then arrived at San Francisco yesterday. Anyhow, I had some time before the registration at 2pm. So, I went to check out the most prominent symbol of SF: the Golden Gate Bridge!

Then I took two buses (#28 and #30) and some walking to another famous tourist attraction: the Fisherman's Wharf. I had some crab cake and ice cream there for lunch. Then took some pictures with Alcatraz and Pier 39. I originally planned to take a tour to Alcatraz, but it was too expensive.

By the time I finished at the Wharf it was 12.30. So, without much to do, I decided to go check out Moscone Convention Center in case lots of people show up. I got to Moscone at 1.00pm. I thought it was too early but apparently the registration was already open! A problem I found was the registration staffs were not able to give me much information. Just to ask a question about my pass and one on CommunityOne event, I was transferred to 2-3 different persons. I finally got my questions answered and got my badge.

At Moscone Center West, there's another conference: American Transplant Congress. There's a group of protesters at the front of the conference handing out protesting flyers and giving attitudes to the attendees. They were protesting against organ transplant in general. At first I thought it was a protest for J1...I didn't know that there's another conference next to Moscone. I'm glad that it wasn't for J1. Now come to think about it, it's quite ridiculous if there's such thing as a protest against a geeks gathering event for
1. Coding isn't a crime
2. Geek is cool (admit it, we're now in 21st century =]. )
3. People realized that we can do more goods than just fixing their computers.

After I'm done with registration, I took a long walk through China town San Francisco.

I finished the day with a visit to Japan town, but I didn't take any pictures since I didn't see anything specially remarkable. By the time I'm done, it was about 7pm already. Tomorrow it's CommunityOne and I'll be attending Netbeans Software day. I'm specially interested in Netbeans 6, Sun SPOT, and Matisse. Now, the last picture I took for the day...
