| Sun in the Top 500
According to Top 500, Sun has 9 sites in the top 500 super-computers in the world:
| 14 | GSIC Center, Tokyo Institute of Technology |
| 52 | University of Southern California |
| 261 | Mississippi State University |
| 412 | Sun Project Blackbox |
| 413 | Sun Solution Center for HPC |
| 416 | National Institute for Space Research/CPTEC |
| 417 | DKRZ - Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum |
| 427 | Sun Solution Center for HPC |
| 467 | Universidad de Granada |
Not the most impressive line-up, but we're working on it. In the coming year or so, look for Sun to move up the charts significantly.
What I find most impressive about this list is #412. Project Blackbox is a product, not a site. We sell the thing to whomever can afford it. Does that mean that everyone who buys a Blackbox will make the Top 500 list? Doesn't that mean there will be a massive tie for 412th place? What does that mean for everyone below 412 on the list? I absolutely love it when we change the rules of the game!
