Currently reading: "Die Trying", by Lee Child.
I finished "Killing Floor" last night on the flight to Newark, NJ. Once you start the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child, it is hard to stop. I brought the next book in the series, "Die Trying" and plan to start it tonight.

Somerset, NJ
I have arrived for my first visit to Somerset, NJ. In all my travels, I have never been to this part of New Jersey, so I am looking forward to the visit. Getting here was straightforward, especially with the GPS guiding me along the way, and I was amazed to not have to pay a toll on the GSP.

Favorite blogword of the day.
From time to time, I come across a word in a blog that strikes my fancy. An example (actually a word in use a long time ago) is "cruft". Today's word is "crippleware", referring to software or products for which the user must continually pay.

Scotland the Brave
Just in case you were wondering, there are lyrics to Scotland the Brave ...
Scotland the Brave
Hark when the night is falling
Hark! hear the pipes are calling,
Loudly and proudly calling,
Down through the glen.
There where the hills are sleeping,
Now feel the blood a-leaping,
High as the spirits of the old Highland men.
Chorus
Towering in gallant fame,
Scotland my mountain hame,
High may your proud standards gloriously wave,
Land of my high endeavour,
Land of the shining river,
Land of my heart for ever, Scotland the brave.
High in the misty Highlands,
Out by the purple islands,
Brave are the hearts that beat beneath Scottish skies.
Wild are the winds to meet you,
Staunch are the friends that greet you,
Kind as the love that shines from fair maidens' eyes.
Chorus
Far off in sunlit places,
Sad are the Scottish faces,
Yearning to feel the kiss
Of sweet Scottish rain.
Where tropic skies are beaming,
Love sets the heart a-dreaming,
Longing and dreaming for the homeland again.

2003 Two Hands Samantha's Garden Shiraz
2003 Two Hands Samantha's Garden Shiraz is a really subtle piece of work. I love the Australian Shiraz and blends, and this one is no exception to that love. Beautiful aroma and nose, not too snarky, powerfully forward fruit when uncorked. First impressions are of an opaque purple wine, with tremendous legs. A sip tells me this is a special wine, very subtle, not what one would necessarily expect from an Australian Shiraz, but it's true, nonetheless.
Powerful forward fruit makes for a real treasure of a wine.

Vacation is almost over!
I've been on vacation this entire week, and I am ready to go back to work, I'm exhausted! I spent the entire week working through my "honey-do" list. Here's what I've done:
1. Replaced a toilet (much easier than I had imagined)
2. Completely rebuilt two closets (the most time was spent here - lots of power tools too!)
3. Replaced two ceiling fans
4. Spread pine-straw
5. Installed weather-stripping on two doors
6. Cut down two dead trees (another power tool :)
Does not seem like much when laid out in a list, but it's taken all week, except for one day I did not take vacation because it was the only day I could meet with a customer.

"Jitterbug Perfume", by Tom Robbins
[posted with ecto
I finished "Bad Luck and Trouble" last night - took two days to read - and started "Jitterbug Perfume" by Tom Robbins. Mr. Robbins is on my list of excellent authors, though his style is an acquired taste. I have acquired said taste over the years.
