BB trounces the field, but tragedy struck another horse
Big Brown won the Kentucky Derby by 4 3/4 lengths, but Eight Belles had to be euthanized on the track after finishing second. The filly broke both front ankles (condylar fractures) on the cool-down. Apparently her injuries were too severe to move her from the track. Very, very sad about Eight Belles. She ran her heart out.
