Our pets

In conversations here and there, I've been asked about our pets. Here's a short and incomplete list:

Coal 100507 001

Above is Coal, otherwise known as Crusher, because of his personality. He's just a kitten in this picture but he is growing fast. When I am doing web development running Glassfish, Netbeans in Mac OS X and a Solaris instance in VMWare, the air coming out of the Macbook can get a little warm, so he likes to sleep there.

Dscf0065

This is Regulus, but he prefers to be called "Reggie". He is a rescued Persian from an unlicensed cattery in Jefferson, GA.

Dscf0047

Above is Silkenrose Sir Jack, known as Jack, Persian of the week 08-MAR-2008. He is a full-blooded Persian of "pet" quality, apparently because his face is not smushed in enough.

Terry

The ugly one is me. The brown one is Breaker of Hearts, known as Toranaga-sama, named after the eventual Sho-gun from the novel of the same name. He's about 6 mos. old in this picture. His ancestors, champions all, are Breaker something or other, for example, Surfbreaker and Jetbreaker.

The Old K Oct-2007

Above is Kalvin. He is very old, about 14 or so. He's still even tempered, though he has a few aches and pains. He will be with us a while longer yet because he does not move around too much and he never looks back, something might be gaining on him.

gilda01

This is Gilda. She has some Siberian in her. She is a very odd beast, extremely needy for company. She does not like the other cats, but she likes people. We have others who are just the opposite.

Eliot2

This is Eliot, named after T.S. He is a polydactyl Snowshoe Siamese, and is probably the smartest cat in the house.

This is Jandamar Lady Schnee, a white Persian. She does doughnuts on the hardwood floors.

Percy6

Above is Percy, a black smoke domestic long hair, affectionately known as "Tubby" due to his increasing waist empire. He is incredibly affectionate and tolerant.

Possum

This is Possum, so-named because she looked more like a 'possum than a cat when she was little.

Sydney

Above is Sydney, a grey, almost Russian Blue colored boy. He's the neurotic of the house.

Toby2

This is Prince Tobias, known as Toby. He had his left eye removed ... cancer. I think it gives him a piratical look.

Byron5Mo2

Lord Byron, a Newfoundland, when he was about 4 mos. Now he's well over 110 pounds.

Dscf0004

For comparison's sake, Toranaga the Boxer and Byron the Newfoundland. Toranaga's full-grown, about 75 pounds. Byron was about 12 weeks in this picture, by the time he was 4 months, he out-weighed Toranaga, and today at the age of 3 1/2 yrs, he's over 110 pounds.

Dscf0038

Above is Lord Byron full-grown. His name has special significance: George Gordon, Lord Byron wrote about and owned a Newfoundland named Boatswain (pronounced bo-sun) and Gordon is one of my ancestors on the Scottish side.

Yes, the dogs are my favorites. :)

You have some great looking pets.
You never can have to many.

I was googling snowshoe cats and saw your picture of Eliot. I have a snowshoe named Toby with very similar markings on his face, but Toby's "mustache" sneaks up to his LEFT eye. They are mirror twins, LOL
