Sun has a series of training opportunities including: Java University, instructor-led classes, some on a Classroom and some on Interative Virtual Classroom, and self-paced classes, including some Web-based and some CD-ROM-based. There is now a self-paced, Web-based, free class for SJS Application Server 9.0 (GlassFish): WMT-IAS-1499. |
To get the class, point your browser to the corresponding page (WMT-IAS-1499), login and then purchase it. The price is $0 and you will get a 365 day subscription. The class is delivered as Flash to your browser and it claims to run for 2 hours. There are multiple modules with slides and audio and transcript and you can skip through the content, I skimmed through the content last night and it seemed pretty good and complete.
Gotchas - As far as I can see, there are at least two if not 3 accounts involved. First you need to login to purchase. I am not sure if your SDN account will just work or if you will need to create a separate one. If you have an SDN account, try that one first. Second, once you purchase you will get another account, for accessing the courses at the http://tmn.sun.com site (you will get an email confirmation as well as via your browser). I suspect the two accounts are supposed to be connected but it did not happen overnight, so this morning I had to login directly to http://tmn.sun.com and that worked fine. Enjoy!
