This week carries a new episode in the Sun/Oracle/EU saga: The EU Comission has issued a statement of objections on the acquisition of Sun by Oracle.

Since I am a Sun employee, I will just provide the basic links, no matter how tempting it might be to go beyond that...

The material would make for good pulp fiction. It's very sad to see the impact on people, but today I was talking with a friend that was affected and he was being very good at keeping things in perspective, so I thought of using the front cover of a true pulp fiction: Doc Savage - which I first encountered in an old Spanish translation in a storage room in my grandfather's flat in Barcelona (together with copies of The Shadow and El Coyote).
Perhaps also time to watch again the movie? Blu-ray, pretty please?
I'm not sure the suggestion that the RIF could have been avoided should the merge have gone through is fair. It's a more likely an unavoidable downpayment on the "more efficient" merged entity...
Sun's business is hurt by the delays in the EC decision (although more through IBM imho but anyway), but they have to do due diligence and Oracle should have expected this.
US Anti trust has become rubberstamping. If you look at the personal finance market for example, Microsoft recently pulled out Money from the market and Intuit bought Mint. Where was the DOJ?

Hi Cyril. I'm going to leave comments open on the entry but I'm not going to follow-up on them. There may be cases where I feel I can answer, some where I know I can't, and many where I don't know whether I can or I can't. The simplest, and safest, is for me not to even get started.
