Java CAPS 6 was Announced Last Week. It includes the ESB Suite and the Master Data Management Suite (MDM). Several Sun folks have already commented about it, including: Prakash, Jorge, Alexis (very nice, but in french), and Kevin (with PR assessment). The launch of Java CAPS 6 is important on its own and also because the ESB Suite includes the OpenESB engine and several of its components (including BPEL SE, HTTP BC, Java EE SE, IEP) - see New Beginnings and Differences. Although the release is not yet actually available outside of an EA program, you can find the Documentation online. |
Reaction from the press has been positive, including:
• Information Week
• InfoWorld
• The Register
• vnunet.com
• SearchSOA.com
• Redmond Mag
• Application Development Trends
Several of the Java CAPS/OpenESB engineers keep regular blogs and we will start covering them here. MDM is based on Mural and deserves a separate entry/entries.
Could not find anywhere a link for the download of the bits...
How can someone do a review? Bogus?
Close source? Humm...

Hi 70.231.135.141 - Closed/Open Source and Download of the bits are two separate (but somewhat related) issues.
A big chunk of Java CAPS is not open source (don't know the %s, but all the Java CAPS 5.x code is not open source); the open source bits are the OpenESB, Mural, OpenMQ and GlassFish Server. Over time Java CAPS will have more open source bits but I don't expect all of it to be Open Source - just too expensive in process, etc. Similar to how HADB is not open source but it is still available, etc.
The other topic is availability of the bits for d/l. You are right, they are not yet available. To get access to them today you need to sign for the EA program. I'll keep you guys posted when that changes.
