Monitoring HTTP and SOAP Traffic
  Posted by pelegri in General

Magnifying Glass

A common task when debugging a Web Service or a Web Application is monitoring and inspecting the messages, be them plain HTTP, or SOAP encoded. There are many of these flying around but the one we are converging in Project GlassFish is WSMonitor. This open source tool uses Port Forwarding and is a generic tool that could be used in other WS stacks.

Arun has a blog Introducing WSMonitor; contact him if you want to contribute improvements, or just want to file RFEs. There are already immediate plans to add support for FastInfoset but there are none (yet?) for alternate transports.

Comments:

Web based version of this is currently available in GlassFish. See http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/appserver/reference/techart/ws_mgmt.html
