Must-Have Release - GlassFish v2 UR1 is Now Available
  Posted by pelegri in GlassFish

Fireworks at Singapore

GlassFish v2 UR1 is out! This is a must-have release as it has about 185 bug fixes and enhancements (see Release Plan and Full List of Changes - thanks Shreedhar).

This release is available in the usual bundles including the Java EE SDK Update 4, the Sun Java System Application Server 9.1 UR1 (also see All SJSAS Downloads) and the Java.Net Download.

Blogs describing the individual features will be tagged as glassfish+v2ur1.

Comments:

Build 14 of v2.1, I assume? The java.net download page is quite confusing.

First, the link you gave (https://glassfish.dev.java.net/public/alldownloads.html#GlassFish_v2_UR_branch) doesn't resolve--the fragment doesn't seem to identify anything.

Next, on that page there is a section for "V2 Update Release branch", but that seems to have stalled out in November. Then there's a section for "V2.1 branch", which judging by the dates, at any rate, is the right one.

Could you confirm that this URL: https://glassfish.dev.java.net/downloads/v2.1-b14.html
...is in fact the one you're announcing above?

Thanks,
Laird

Sorry, Laird - I think some pages changed between when I composed the entry yesterday and when it got published today.

I've updated the links - hopefully cdorrectly now.

What you want is v2ur1-b09d.

Hope this helps. If not, let me know and I'll keep working on it :-)

I'm looking for the link to download the package that includes HADB. Your original link for "Sun Java System Application Server 9.1 UR1" brought me to a page with that option but the download link on that page was broken. The current link seems to take me directly to the download without HADB.

Hi Jesse - I've added the link to all the SJSAS downloads. The SJSAS9.1U1 w/ HADB is second in the list. Hope this helps.

@Eduardo: thanks! 2.1 is...then...not 3, but...the v2 branch continuing on?

Laird - Right. V2.1 is the next incremental release in the v2 branch. It will also have only a relatively small number of changes, mostly to increase the scalability of the release so it can be used in even environments with higher demands like with SailFin.

v3 and v2.1 are coexistent. It will take a bit before we have a v3 that is solid enough to replace v2 in highly demanding deployment environments.

I did some cleaning up on the main GF pages on java.net. Hopefully, things are a little more clear.
